
No wonder it was he who took the initiative for the first winter ascent of the Ferrari-Route to the top of Cerro Torre and the first crossing of the Southern Patagonian Inland Ice without depots together with the Norwegian polar expert Børge Ousland.
In all his adventures the family man Thomas Ulrich does the utmost to minimize risk as much as possible. If, from his point of view, a risk can no longer be calculated he doesn’t hesitate one moment to break off the expedition.
