Dates
At the most two expeditions of approximately 14 days can take place every year, because the Russian ice base “Borneo” is operational only in April.

Dates:
April 1 to April 16, 2010
April 7 to April 22, 2011

Detailed Program
Our journey starts and ends in Zurich. Duration: 16 days all in all out of which 7 to 10 days will be spent on ice and we will cover a distance of about 120 km on skis. We will fly back from the North Pole in a Russian helicopter.

Fitness Level
Participants need not be specialists in extreme sports. The oldest participant of last year’s expedition led by Thomas Ulrich was 69, the youngest 15 years old. A good physical condition, however, is indispensable. Only those with a good condition and sufficient reserves will thoroughly enjoy the expedition.

Equipment
We will move about in a part of the world where the right sort of equipment is vital. That’s why we will lend you the entire special gear. In addition you will need your personal equipment used for ski tours. If you like we will help you make the right choice with the various pieces or put together your whole equipment.

The Arctic
Unlike the Antarctic the Arctic is not a continent but the more than 5000m deep Arctic ocean: below the ice of the Arctic is the sea.

Risks
Journeys to highly unusual regions of the world always bear certain risks. A detailed preparation, good equipment and above all Thomas Ulrich’s excellent knowledge of the polar region – he has been at the northernmost point of the earth several times – will keep the risk for participants during the whole expedition as low as possible.
